The Sony DCRSR100 is the best of Sony's family of non-high def HDD (hard disk digital) Handycam Camcorders. Tremendously easy to use, with a level of quality and feature set which reaches into the midrange for camcorders available for the home market today. This is reflected in the price as well... Pros Universal Mpeg2 format. Good video quality. Native 16:9 widescreen format.
Cons Included battery yields only 40-minutes of continuous recording. Not a small as mini-DV...

I waited almost five years before upgrading my first generation Sony digital 8-mm camcorder to a Sony hard drive camcorder. I looked really hard at the JVC Everio hard drive video cameras, but the reviews I read were less than spectacular.
