I bought this game about a year ago having already played it at my friends house, therefor knowing ahead of time what I was going to receive. However, I stood corrected, as the game was even better than I had originally thought. There are so many different types of modes an individual can play in this game it is mind boggling. Depending on how much time you have or how into the game you really are. My personal favorite would have to be the Franchise mode. I like this particular mode the best because it allows you to play with one team for up to 15 years worth of seasons. Meanwhile everything that occurs in real life college football occurs in this game. There is recruiting after every single season. The better your team did in the previous year, the more likely you will receive player interests from top prospects, creating the ultimate team.
Another game mode includes a season where you just play one season trying to crown your team as the national champion. This mode is also fun if you are not willing to stick with one team for 15 seasons in the dynasty mode. In this mode and every other mode you desire to play in, the rankings for your team will vary throughout the season. If your team starts off unranked, they will soon be in the top 25 in you continue to pull off several victories in a row. The realism this game has is amazing, plus the details to the recruiting and stats is awesome.
Of course there is the exhibition mode where you and a friend can sit down and play a one on one game for bragging rights. There also is a practice mode where you can pick a team and practice certain plays against another team. I sometimes do this for kickoffs to practice on getting my big returns. Therefore I will tear it up when it comes to playing the real games.
As for the graphics in this game, they are simply amazing. The best graphics I have seen in a football game by EA sports ever. I have also played the Madden 2002 game which is real similar but I feel as if these graphics seem a little better. They are really crisp and every individuals face looks like a real human face. There are shines coming off the helmets while playing under the lights and even the uniforms will get dirty as the game progresses. Once again I have to say the details are magnificent in this game. Not to mention that every stadium looks like the stadium that the home team really plays in.
The only negative I can think of for this game as I mentioned above in the cons would have to be the fact that it sometimes will slow down on you. Maybe it is because there is so much memory in the game, I don't know, but personally I don't see it as much of a problem. The slow down only occurs for maybe 5 seconds at most and then you are off again playing one of the most intense college football games ever made. I definitely give this game a rating of 5 stars. If you have not purchased this game and would like to, now is a great time to do so with the price so much lower than it was. This is a steal of a game for its asking price and you will have hours of fun with your friends or even by yourself if you are into college football and a game that pays attention to much detail.
