FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE:
We purchased this camera a few months ago prior to our wedding and honeymoon. We carried the camera with us on our cruise to Cozumel, Mexico and Grand Cayman. I was impressed with the ease of using this camera as I am not one to sit down and read detailed manuals... Read full review »

Pros Night Vision (0 Lux), Steady Shot, Halogen Lamp, 460X zoom, Affordable
Cons Not Digital, Capacity of Included Battery, Sony batteries devastatingly expensive
Recommended it? Yes

This video camera is certainly not the best out there...yet it is not the worst. I would say that this video camera gives you the middle ground features and also the middle ground price. This was the determining factor that resulted into the purchase of this product. If you plan to do professional... Read full review »

Pros affordable, good quality picture, night vision, battery charges quickly
Cons short battery life, zooming out angle not wide enough

I have had this camera for about four months now and I have really enjoyed my time with it. It's an excellent choice for families or single people who can't afford more but still want a small, "handy" camcorder to capture memories on tape.

Pros:
1. Nightshot. Using infrared, the... Read full review »

I brought this camera a couple months ago and it is everything I need. It isn't a digitial camera, but it is the closest thing to one.

Pros Affordable, high quality, entry level camcorder with everything you need. Excellent Value.
Cons Batteries are pricey, wide angle could be wider.
Recommended it? Yes

We have wanted a camcorder for some time now, and finally decided to go ahead. The options and features out there are formidable.

As far as digital vs analog recording: We decided that we would not likely be doing a lot of editing on the PC, nor would we need to add a lot of special... Read full review »

Nice Hi 8mm Camcorder

bydanieljackson Dec 29, 2002
5 Helpfuls 6 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Easy to operate good resolution, 0 lux infrared mode.
Cons Not a high end digital quality picture Cannot use VCR tape adapter to play.
Recommended it? Yes

It's easy to be confused by what's out there now in camcorders. VHS-C, Hi 8, Digital 8, mini DV etc. I picked the Hi 8 format because the picture quality is good and the price was reasonable for what we are using it for. We are not currently transferring video to our computer so I did not feel the... Read full review »

I got this camera as a self-purchase about a year ago. Since then I have recorded everything on many trips me and my friends have been on. Recording is so easy with this little camera, and it's so light it can be carried almost anywhere.

Pros Small, great video quality, good battery life, color LCD screen rules, good zoom,...
Cons Nothing really, for the price that's why I bought it, I liked everything.
Recommended it? Yes

I take this thing everywhere with me. It's been to sandy islands off the Georgia coast, out in the snow and rain in Massachusetts, and is used often. The video quality is excellent, and the zoom is impressive. I know some other models have a longer zoom, but you compromise on other things. And... Read full review »

Pros I like the camera and most of it works real good.
Cons The night shot feature is stuck in the on position.
Recommended it? No

My problem is Sony not doing anything to back up it's defects. They want you to send the camera in for a minimum
$200.00 repair for whatever!! the repair. The night shot feature got stuck on my 2 year and one month old camera and they don't stand behind their workmanship... I'm really... Read full review »
