Okay phone, but a little poor on features

bykae36 May 8, 2004

Pros Seems to be reliable, clear sound, not much interference.
Cons volume control could amplify more, quirky operation on some features.
Recommended it? Yes

This is the answering machine/cordless phone system. Here are my opinions on the features:

Keypad on cordless set:
The keypad has raised buttons. I've found that it is occasionally difficult to dial phone numbers (i.e. I think I hit the button, but it didn't register on the keypad)... Read full review »

My new Vtech phone replacing my Panasonic 2.4

byspaceaceomega Feb 23, 2004

Pros Great sound over the handset or base using the speakerphone. Very clear and lifelike.
Cons Can't transfer phone numbers to other units.
Recommended it? Yes

I bought this phone to replace my Panasonic that was on the fritz. I bought it mostly on the reviews I read and my parents who have the 2.4 Vtech system. I must say that there are worlds of difference in the two units. Some good things are now present but also a few bad things.

Good... Read full review »

Very happy with purchase

Pros Decent sound, easy-to-use, small, Speakerphones/keypads/CallerID on handsets and base,...
Cons No central directory, so time-consuming to enter numbers on base and handsets
Recommended it? Yes

We were shopping for a phone with caller ID and keypads on the base and handset so that if the handset is misplaced, you can still use the base. We had a Panasonic for several years with these features, but it eventually wore out. In looking for a new phone at nearby Circuit City and Best Buy, the... Read full review »

Pros Great range, clarity, many features, 3-mail boxes, expandable 6 hndsts, intercom , NiMH...
Cons Pricey, cannot remotely listen to messages , cannot txfer phone lists to base/handsets
Recommended it? Yes

My wife and I just purchased this phone and we love it! It's packed with features to please the most stubborn phone critic. Yeah, it's pricey but that goes for any new electronic gadget. The price will drop or just wait until it goes on sale.

Pros:
The range is excellent but not... Read full review »

Pros Nice layout, easy to use, good reception
Cons Pricey, poor speakerphone, flimsy battery compartment.
Recommended it? Yes

I used to have a 2.4gz Vtech phone, and it was VERY sturdy, but eventually after all the abuse, it died so I needed a replacement. First I tried the Uniden TRU5885-2, which I really didn't like. So I decided to give the Vtech 5881 phone a try.

I wanted a phone with two handsets... Read full review »

Pros Good reception. Good value for all the functions you get.
Cons Memorized phone number process is clumsy and list is different for each phone.
Recommended it? Yes

I bought this phone and the 6 handsets over two years ago and it has served us all well for that time. We have had only one problem with this phone. One of the extra handsets had a charging stand that failed. I noticed that this phone is not as available as it has been in the past. You can't buy... Read full review »

Nice features but lousy reception ruins it

bypeter777 Feb 5, 2005

Pros Nice features, design
Cons Absolutely atrocious reception
Recommended it? No

We upgraded from a 2.4 to this 5.8 GHz phone. There are a lot of features I like such as the ability to use the phone company voice mail (it blinks for messages). But the reception is crappy, even across the house (never mind the back yard). I complained to Staples where I bought it. The original... Read full review »

Purchase June 2003 w/2 xtra handsets(5820 mdl). After our very expensive Sieman phones turned out to be a piece of crap, we went on the venture of finding new ones. With several on the market we did a little research & decided to go with these Vtechs. We've had no problems w/since we bought.

Ok... I said in my review about the Uniden phone fiasco, I'd write and let you know how the Vtechs worked out:

These phones are just too cool. The user interface is easy to navigate and is very intuitive. It's just very easy to use.

I work from home (freelance graphic designer)... Read full review »
