It does what it's made to do.
Pros
Caller ID Built In, Long Battery Life, 2 Lines
Cons
Only 900MHz, Doesn't Have Speaker Phone
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
I would recommend this phone to anyone who doesn't mind a cordless phone that does not go a great distance and does not have a speakerphone built in.
Very simply put the Uniden EXI2926 with Caller ID does what it's made to do. I have owned the phone since Christmas and have found it does a good job.
Pros:
- The phone is not overly expensive. So if you break it or decide it's no good for any reason it is not a big loss out of your pocket.
- The phone can work on two lines. This lets you accept calls from two seperate lines. If you have the ability you can have both lines run to your phone with just one wire as well because the phone has a plug for that feature. With the two lines you can have conference calls with your friends or business people. (A conference call is when you connect the two lines basically and can talk between the three of you.)
- The Caller ID/Call Waiting displays the name and number of the person calling even when your on the phone. Although, I do not have that feature enabled (caller ID) I am sure that this would be very beneficial so that you will know whos calling you even while you are on the phone and can switch to that more important person if you have to.
- The Caller ID is very easy to read and is backlit so that it is visible in the dark. This is very useful if you get a call in the middle of the night and can't get to the light switch. You just look at the phone and because of the backlight you will be able to see easily who is calling.
- The phone also has 40 number memory. You can program the name and number of up to 40 people and scroll through it looking on the caller ID screen. This makes things very easy if you forget someones number, you just look at your program and call it from there.
- Not only does the phone have a keypad to dial the number, but the base has one as well. You can dial the number from the base if you need to for any reason which could make things easier for you.
- Although the phone lacks a speakerphone it is speakerphone and headset compatible. The phone has a detachable belt clip for hands-free operation if you have the headset. This could also be used if you just want to carry the phone around with you waiting for that important call.
- If you lose the phone the base has a pager to help you find it. You simply push the button on the base and the phone will start beeping to help guide you to it.
- The phone and base can act as an intercom system. If the base presses the page button then the person with the phone can just push the "intercom" button and you have established a connection to talk between the base and the phone.
- The battery on the phone lasts a good amount of time. You can talk on the phone continuously for about 3 - 3 1/2 hours before the battery dies and you have to charge it again. This is sufficient time for the average user.
Cons:
- The phone is only 900MHz. This means that it is really only usable inside your house. Everything sounds good inside the house but once I tried to go outside with it, I started to lose my connection. This is why I decided to put the phone in the computer room instead of in the kitchen where it may get carried outside.
- The phone lacks a speakerphone. This is one feature that really hurts this phones overall rating. A speakerphone is very handy, but since this phone does nto have one I find myself using the other phone that has that feature.
