Cons Some bug issues, extensive travelling

Red Dead Redemption was released in 2010 as the ultra-successor to 2004's Red Dead Revolver and Rockstar's next game after the monumental Grand Theft Auto IV. I had really high expectations for this game because of Rockstar's track record and the fact that I'm a huge fan of Westerns and the whole... Read full review »

Pros story, gameplay, online, great mini-games, renewable replay value
Cons graphical glitches, cheating AI in mini-games, short

I probably wasn't going to pick up Red Dead Redemption a couple months ago. A couple things came together to make that possible. First, someone at work was ranting and raving about the game and how much fun it was to run around collecting a huge bounty. It reminded me of the fun times playing Grand... Read full review »

Rockstar is a video game developer synonymous with their flagship series Grand Theft Auto. While they occasionally diverge from their main franchise this is usually not recieved nearly as well. As someone who enjoys GTA games only on occasion I was pretty weary of their ambitious attempt... Read full review »

So Much More Than Grand Theft Pony: Red Dead Redemption

byMike_Bracken Sep 2, 2010
29 Helpfuls 30 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Decent graphics, cool missions, fun gameplay.
Cons A lot of unnecessary travel time, some repetition.
Recommended it? Yes

Given that the Wild West was all about guns, horses, train robberies, and prison breaks - a land where a man was the master of his own destiny - it seems odd that no one has made a great videogame with a western setting. The cinematic blueprints are there - particularly in Leone's iconic spaghetti... Read full review »

Red Dead Redemption: When Men Were Men? Who Killed Other Men. Often. With Bullets.

Pros Immersive, great sounds, tight gameplay, replayable, fun multiplayer, DLC.
Cons Loading times, hard to tell NPC non-aggressives from NPC hostiles.

The future is the setting of choice for most video game shooters nowadays. It gives the designers an easy avenue to astonish potential suitors with ultramodern backdrop designs, sparkling particle effects, and other superfluous-but-cool nonsense that looks really dazzling in box art screenshots... Think of Red Dead redemption as GTA 5 – a century. This game is truly enormous and  makes the GTA series look immature and shallow. It completely redefines the term sandbox game.
Red Dead Redemptions, main plus point is of course environment. The... Read full review »

Cons On a personal level, boring.  <br>Hard to get into.

As much as I liked this game, I couldn't finish it.  The world is beautifully constructed, has great controls and a few things that cater to the lazier gamers, who don't want to travel across the world 73 1/2 times for one mission.

The atmosphere of the whole game is great... Read full review »

Red Dead gets a 7.5 out of 10

Red Dead Redemption is a decent game but I would not say it is great. I received it from Buy.com for $46 and free shipping but I am not sure if it is still runnning that deal. It was definitely worth the $46 but I would of been a little angry paying $60. There is obivous glitches in parts of the... Read full review »
