Pros The luxury of quality, features and convenience with Sonys name behind it.
Cons Luxury usually comes at a luxury price.

Pros Universal Mpeg2 format. Good video quality. Native 16:9 widescreen format.
Cons Included battery yields only 40-minutes of continuous recording. Not a small as mini-DV...

I waited almost five years before upgrading my first generation Sony digital 8-mm camcorder to a Sony hard drive camcorder. I looked really hard at the JVC Everio hard drive video cameras, but the reviews I read were less than spectacular.

Pros Compact, video quality, hard drive, not many manual controls.
Cons USB cable, no firewire.
Recommended it? Yes

First of all, I was looking for the camcorder which would perform good with minimum manual controls. All I wanted was to turn it on, press Record and that's it. Cons A bit pricey, heavy/bulky compared to other cameras

I am a complete novice when it comes to video cameras: prior to this one, I had never owned a video camera before, and my only experience with them was during a college course in the early 90s. Obviously the technology has come a long, long way.

Pros Pass through recording, great still and video quality.
Cons bulkier than other hard drive models. Slightly more expensive.

Pros Very easy to use. Quality is good all over.
Cons Blue tooth transmitter (optional XTRA) looks a bit of a fragile fit.Don't drop.

I bought this camera to get away from tape format,I will never go back to tape. Cons Could use one or two more buttons in lieu of menu items.
