A Stylish Mini-Camcorder That Could Still Use Some Technological Improvement
Pros
Fancy, stylish, small and light weight, good video and picture quality
Cons
Battery does not last very long, may stop functioning in moisture environment
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
It's stylish, easy to use, easy to bring on a trip. Although some improvements could be made, overall, it's worthy of the price, I recommend it.
Let's see....I bought JVC Mini-DV camcorder online a while ago. Back then it cost me about 700 bucks, which was fairly cheap compare to many other named brands.
The camcorder came with a full package, including a battery charger, a docking station, a remote control, cables and plug that could be used to hook it up to TV and computer, and some photo/movie edit softwares.
JVC DVM76 is really small and light weight, it for sure is not going to take up any precious luggage space if you are on a trip. And it is stylish with its silverish appearance, and 2.5 inch high resolution display.
This machine comes with many interesting features, which I'm not going to list one by one here(for detailed description, please see other reviews). Using it, is very intuitive, I think I was able to figure out most of its functionalities without even consulting the user manual.
JVC76 has been with me on many tours since I purchased it. The experience with it was mostly positive, and I think I made the right choice when I bought it. But that does not mean no further product improvement was necessary. Here, I'd like to list a few:
(1) Limited battery life: the battery that comes with the purchased normally lasts for about 30-45 minutes, that is if you do not use the zoom very often. I used it once in my graduation ceremony, and it ran out of battery at the most exciting moment....with $75 more, you could purchase a backup battery that could last for 2 hours, definitely worthy of the price.
(2) Sensitivity to moisture: I brought it with me to an island one time, the scene was so beautiful that I started video taping right away. But the camcorder malfunctioned, and for a while I was not able to figure out the reason. I went back to the user manual, and found the warning that basically says this equipment may not work properly under high moisture....an island with high moisture intensity is not unreasonable, maybe JVC should consider some improvement
(3) Noise Sensitivity: The microphone was located at the top of the camcorder, right beneath the nose/mouse during video taping, some unwanted background noise :) may find its way into your home video....
Well, that is all I have to say, both pro and cons....
